On summer breaks, small boys, and the joy of coming back to what you love.
I took August off.
Not in a planned, scheduled, "I'm going on holiday" kind of way. More in a "my grandson Theo is here and nothing else matters right now" kind of way.
And honestly? It was exactly what I needed.
If you've been wondering where I went — that's where I went. Theo. Summer. Long days with nowhere to be and no deadline to meet. Ice cream and bare feet and the kind of slow, golden time that you can't get back once it's gone.
I'm a one-woman studio. There's no team keeping things running while I step away. When I stop, things stop. And this summer, I made peace with that — because some things matter more than a to-do list.
Theo is one of those things.
But September has a way of calling you back.
There's something about the cooler mornings and the smell of the air that makes me want to be at my craft table again. Scissors in hand. Paper in front of me. A cup of tea going cold beside me because I got too absorbed in what I was making.
I've missed it. The making. The quiet. The feeling of turning a pile of paper and ribbon into something someone will hold in their hands and keep.
I'm back. The studio is open. And I'm genuinely excited about what's coming this fall.
